Details:
Linux Mandrake 7.2, XF4.0.1 via "Expert Install" mode
NVidia Geforce DDR 32M, NVidia drivers 0.9-6

how can i see or activate the fps (rightbottomcorner of your pic)? Z||000002||MarginWalker||02-21-2001||08:45 AM||derek3@home.com||I used console command "net_graph 3", u can also use 1 and 2 for different renditions with bargraphs and stuff, but these increase lag & drastically reduce fps. use net_graph 0 to turn it off...i recommend binding these to keys so you can turn em on & off, they cause a reduction in frame rates.
also, i have not tried this, but i think a command like "cl_showfps 1" or "cl_show_fps 1" or something like that will just show the fps without the net info, reducing the performance hit...check around on some HL boards. Z||000003||MarginWalker||02-22-2001||09:24 AM||derek3@home.com||Update
I've been playing some more, thought i'd share the following:
- The menus all seem to work (slowly), even the controls config worked properly.
- Using mouse wheel to select weapons: my USB mouse worked perfectly, once Next Weapon & Previous Weapons were bound to PgUp & PgDown. (The default HL mwheelup & mwheeldown don't work in wine.)
- Alt-Tab (!) works ... sometimes. Usually it locks up Half-Life, sometimes it messes the controls so you spin like a tornado endlessly upon return, sometimes it works fine. (About as good as windows)
- Sound Config: The tweaks in the HOWTO by crazney are recommended for correcting the lag.
- If you normally log in as a regular user, then "su" to root, be sure to log back out or open another shell and play as the regular user...otherwise, it won't work with the script in the HOWTO because your $PATH gets undefined when you "su".
