A||||16||Zeitgeist||crashes with "-game" option.. also thin green line
Z||000000||Zeitgeist||01-15-2001||12:27 AM||zeitgeist@animenet.org||Hi when I have
cd /usr/local/wine/SIERRA/Half-Life ; wine hl.exe -- hl.exe -console -noipx -nojoy -game $6 +connect $8
in my 'hl' startup program it locks X sometimes and I need to restart it, any ideas?
Also ever since Ive had this I always get a thin green line in game at the top of the screen does'nt matter the wine version.. im not exactly sure what it is.
thanks - zeit Z||000001||crazney||01-15-2001||12:33 AM||dhammerton@labyrinth.net.au||hmm, 'sometimes' when i use the -game option, hl freezes, i just 'killall -9 wine' - not sure why it does this :(..
other thing, i think we all get that, (about 2 pixels yeah??) - i think its a bug in wine todo with res its detecintg..

Z||000002||Zeitgeist||01-15-2001||02:17 AM||zeitgeist@animenet.org||I'm thinking those who did it from their windows partition probaly don't get it.. so i think they might be another radio sound way. Though atleast we do have radio sounds that work but its a 50/50 gamble with your x-session. ^^
yeah about 2 pixel.. green line.

Z||000004||crazney||01-15-2001||03:02 AM||dhammerton@labyrinth.net.au||may - it doesnt lock my X server either - just wine (killall -9 wine in a console fixes this).
strange about the green lin - then again, what res are you running at?
640? - ill try this soon, could be a problem with the res.
David Z||000005||Zeitgeist||01-15-2001||03:08 AM||zeitgeist@animenet.org||What is "managed"? I'll disable DGA in a sec and check it out.. Z||000006||Zeitgeist||01-15-2001||03:19 AM||zeitgeist@animenet.org||Nope .. not DGA..
about the crashes.. well it just freezes X so I need to alt+ctrl+del and shut it down then again I run it full screen so I have no other option..
Not sure why having the "-game" option should sometimes cause it to wine to lock up Z||000007||crazney||01-15-2001||04:01 AM||dhammerton@labyrinth.net.au||i *think* the crashing may be todo with were the mouse curser is when WINE switches out of directdraw mode (eg, it changes res to the menus, then unchanges and loads the opengl windows) - in this case, i move the mouse to somewhere on the desktop (away from the menu's or opengl screen) and it never crashes..
unconfirmed cause i dun wanna crash it :-)
crazney Z||000008||Lars Munch||01-15-2001||06:57 AM||c948114@student.dtu.dk||I have always been using the -game option, but lately wine just hangs. I solved it by doing a touch on cstrike/config.cfg just before starting the game. That seems to fix it.

Lars Munch's 'touching' didnt work for me either.
ill look at it tomorow.
Cheers
David Z||000010||may1937||01-15-2001||11:06 AM||mayof1937@crosswinds.net||managed lets your window manager manage the windows instead of letting wine handle it. the border gets all flickery for me if i don't use it.
i tried launching wine through xqf last night (for the first time) and that was the first time i've had wine crash on 1/2 life with the 20010112 snapshot. i don't know if that's how you guys are trying to launch it, but like someone else said, it crashes about 50% of the time for me. but running it from a console works fine for me 100% of the time.
oh yeah, i run at 1024x768. Z||000011||Zeitgeist||01-15-2001||01:00 PM||zeitgeist@animenet.org||Yeah I crash on the new snapshot too, I think what Crazney said might be right about switching modes, I am going to try without XQF now and see what happens.
- Jordan Z||000012||Zeitgeist||01-15-2001||02:50 PM||zeitgeist@animenet.org||nah still crashes w/o XQF Z||000013||crazney||01-15-2001||06:02 PM||dhammerton@labyrinth.net.au||interesting, still crashes for me either way..
im using latest CVS..
it rox, no more zippy shit - just "cvs update -Pd" :-)
anyhow, ill look into it soon, got work 2do before i go back to school..
anyone thought about that post on the main web page?
cheers
crazney Z||000014||may1937||01-15-2001||06:19 PM||mayof1937@crosswinds.net||when you all are talking about changing res, do you mean the whole xserver or just the wine window? my xserver never changes res... maybe you could try it like that?
i'm not sure that i want to (or even could) run this site, but if no one else steps up i guess i'd give it a shot just because i don't want it to die. Z||000015||Zeitgeist||01-15-2001||08:14 PM||zeitgeist@animenet.org||i'd vote may as well ;)
I could help too if you'd want, im available.
