A||||4||BMP||No GUI at all after new WINE compile with glext.h Z||000000||BMP||01-10-2001||10:34 PM||bmplummer@yahoo.com||
After downloading the latest version of WINE and the glext.h file, following the HOW-TO closly, I compiled WINE. It took almost an hour. I edited the config file in my home directory (WINE told me to do it after I tried to run it the first time) and tried the HL setup.exe. NO GUI AT ALL! All output was going to the command prompt. What the heck did I do wrong? How do I uninstall WINE now? Do I need to? The RPM package worked but I removed it because the HOW-TO said to... Why does the HOW-TO say to download the source and compile if the RPM package works? And how do I find out what "modes" ARE supported by my OpenGL device anyway? I even get that "Mode not supported" error in Windows...

Signed,
More confused than before...

as for the gui thing, im not sure. what are the error messages you get in the console?

and it shouldnt have taken an hour to compile, well, what computer do you have? Z||000002||BMP||01-10-2001||11:21 PM||bmplummer@yahoo.com||
Thanks for the reply. I have Pentium II 233 with 256 megs RAM. And I have no idea what errors happen when I try to run the HL setup.exe. TONS of text just floods the command prompt. OK ANYWAY... Where should I get the full source of WINE and are there any compilation arguments I need to pass it? (i.e. the location of glext.h) After compiling is there anything else special I need to do to get it to work that is not in the HOW-TO? Do I need special NVida drivers? The HOW-TO says no... etc, etc, etc...

Signed,
Confused again...

um, what are the last, say, 20 lines that burst out to the screen? Z||000004||Banshee||01-29-2001||11:12 PM||banshee@jecx.net||What kind of video card do you have? BTW with your system (233 with 256 RAM) you're gonna get shit FPS, I had the same system with my 3D ANnihilator Pro and got around 12 fps in half-life
