Half-Life
Ok, so you have come to my website, you would like to get Half-Life working under linux I take it.
So, how exactly does it work? Well, these great people are developing an application called WINE (www.winehq.com). This program enables you to run MS Windows binary files under unix opperating systems, such as Linux. WINE isnt perfect yet, its far from it.. but they are making huge progress from the proprietry and undocumented windows API.
So miraculasly, Half-Life almost works perfectly. You can play multiplayer games fine (most mods), and sometimes single player games. If you want to see exactly whats working and whats not, try the link on the side "working LHL's"
TF2
I have been asked by quite a few people, will TF2 work under linux? are valve porting TF2 to linux? The answer.. I dont know. BUT I highly urge you to help the linux cause by sending an email off (keep nagging, send one off every week or so) to these three adress's: "gaben@valvesoftware.com", "erik@valvesoftware.com", "contact@valvesoftware.com". Basically ask them about porting TF2 to linux, and do some nagging.
Linux Gaming
Check out linuxgames.com. But basically, linux gaming, especially 3D, has come a looong way recently. With all major video card manufacturers either developing or supporting linux drivers, and ALMOST ALL major games companies porting their games to linux. For one of the biggest porting companies, check out Loki Games.
